Scotland: Past and Present

This course will present an overview of the geography, history, and culture of Scotland. Scotland is so much more than whisky, bagpipes, and tartan, although there's nothing wrong with any of those! We'll talk about Scotland's earliest inhabitants, how the Gaelic language came to Scotland, and we'll see if we can define "Celtic Music." We will also touch on current topics including the politics of endangered languages and what's in Scotland's future following the September 2014 independence referendum.
The cost of this class includes a total of 1 hour of instruction a week, files of the material we cover.
The class will be 12 weeks in duration.

Gaelic Through Songs Class

In this class we will look at Gaelic songs, learning new vocabulary and phrases, looking at elements of Gaelic poetry, imagery and historical clues.
